Join SPS for our Seventh Annual Gala Honoring Lindsay Bennett and Jeffrey S. Jacob

Lindsay Bennett celebrates 10 years as Director of Kaplan Nursery School this August. Lindsay first came to Sutton Place Synagogue and Kaplan Nursery School from 2001-2005. During that time, she served in a variety of roles including Early Intervention Coordinator, Head Teacher, and Assistant Director. She returned as Director of Kaplan Nursery School in August 2015. Lindsay is beloved by not only the KNS students, but by the entire community - from parents to teachers to alumni. She is known for her unyielding commitment to the students of Kaplan, her dedication to strengthening early childhood and Jewish education, and her resounding warmth.

Jeffrey Jacob, recipient of the third annual Harriet A. Janover Award, joined SPS in 2008, with his wife, Andrea, and their daughter, Rachel. Over the last 17 years, Jeff has served in a variety of leadership roles at SPS. He sat on the Jackson Religious School Committee and the Rabbinic Search Committee. He co-chaired our first strategic plan after Rabbi Ain’s arrival, which led to tremendous innovation and growth at SPS. He then served as Executive Vice President from 2016 to 2020 and became President of SPS on July 1, 2020, mere months into the Covid-19 pandemic. During Jeff’s tenure as President, he ensured SPS remained fiscally sound and carried us through difficult times with his signature optimism and steady leadership. He also insisted that SPS continue to advance, reigniting the fundraising for the security and lobby renovations that will be completed this summer.
